Meet your tour leader:
Allan BoyerAllan Boyer and his wife Pat operate a New Zealand tour company, A B Explorer Tours Ltd., based in Gore in the south part of the South Island. Allan arranges and escorts all of their New Zealand and international explorer tours for their many clients. He has traveled to all parts of New Zealand and knows the country well, with a particular knowledge of its history, flora and fauna and other interesting aspects. He enjoys exploring the interests of travelers on an individual basis. Allan spent much of his younger days hiking and mountain climbing in the lower South Island, particularly in Fjordland. In addition, he has spent much work and recreation time in Central Otago and Queenstown.
Allan is also employed by the Taieri Gorge Railway (TGR) in Dunedin on a part-time basis. He is a train manager (providing commentary), conductor and locomotive assistant as required. In addition to operating trains in the Dunedin area, he has spent time operating the train for the TGR from Christchurch during winter months on the Trans Alpine route to Arthurs Pass, as well as other parts of the South Island. He is a dedicated railfan and has a good knowledge of the railway system throughout New Zealand, including its history. Tour participants will have much to gain from his experience, knowledge and charming personality.
