Bangkok-Singapore (& vice versa) by Luxury Train
Trains:  Eastern & Oriental Express
4-day Escorted Tour

Tour Type:  Luxury

The Tour

Linking Bangkok and Singapore, the Belmond Eastern & Oriental Express provides a short but satisfying introduction to four great cultures, as revealed by the glittering Thai temples of Bangkok and Singapore's exciting mix of Chinese, Indian and Malay architecture and cuisine. The mid-journey visit to the famed bridge over the River Kwai is an added bonus. We love this journey on one of our favorite luxury trains because it joins two iconic cities full of some of the most welcoming experiences and people you will find anywhere.

“The E&O is a world of colonial charm and service—antique brass and hand-cut inlaid woods, five-course dinners and afternoon tea in French silver, mingling in the main bar and evening strolls to the observation car to watch the sunset”
— Phoenix Arrien, The International Railway Traveler®

The Itinerary

Bangkok-Singapore (4 Days, 3 Nights)

Day 1: Bangkok
The Belmond Eastern & Oriental Express departs Bangkok about 6 p.m. Sip a welcome drink and settle into your comfortable private compartment. Dinner is served as the train travels from city into the countryside with its rice-fields, villages and water buffalo. Retire to your compartment, transformed into a cozy bedroom by your steward.

Day 2: River Kwai
After breakfast, disembark at the River Kwai Bridge station for a leisurely cruise along the river guided by a local historian. Later in the morning, join a visit to an evocative war museum and optional war cemetery.

Day 3: Kuala Kangsar
Spend the morning watching the changing scenery with breakfast in bed as the train travels through Malaysia.

After brunch, arrive at Kuala Kangsar. Disembark for a tour of the grand Ubudiah Mosque, the Royal Museum of Perak and the Sultan Shah Gallery.

Return to the train and spend the afternoon watching the passing scenery from the open-air deck of the observation car. Enjoy a fabulous dinner in one of the opulent restaurant cars, then spend a relaxing evening in the bar car with its resident pianist.

Day 4: Singapore
