Train Type: Luxury
The Tour
In a timeless tradition, Royal Canadian Pacific continues to share the experience of the Canadian Rockies on the Pacific Express trip from Calgary to Vancouver. This is the ultimate in time travel—riding through the heart of the Rocky Mountain wilderness in the luxurious private cars of the Canadian Pacific Railway. This special journey is only offered once a year, so book early!
The Itinerary
Day 1: Calgary
Welcome to Calgary, known as the “Heart of the New West.” Upon arrival at the airport, meet your private chauffeur and transfer to The Fairmont Palliser Hotel, a vintage Canadian Pacific Hotel, for your overnight stay. Dinner will be on your own this evening, allowing you to explore the many small and unique restaurants and bistros on Stephen Avenue, just one block from the hotel.
Day 2: Banff
All Aboard! The luxurious Royal Canadian Pacific awaits at the Canadian Pacific Railway Pavilion this morning. Bid farewell to Calgary as the train enters the gateway to the Rocky Mountains and arrives in the famous mountain community of Banff, where you will be able to enjoy some free time for shopping. Returning to the train, you will travel a short distance to Lake Louise, Alberta, for a guided tour of the area. Once back on the train, mingle with your fellow traveling companions during a cocktail reception and enjoy a splendid dinner as the sun sets over the Canadian Rockies.
Day 3: Kicking Horse Pass and Spiral Tunnels
Enjoy the views from an open-air vestibule as the train descends through Kicking Horse Pass. This pass was one of the biggest challenges to the building of the transcontinental railroad, now demonstrating the ingenious engineering feat known as the “Spiral Tunnels” which have allowed safe rail movement through the pass since 1909. The train will be stopping in Revelstoke for a tour of the Revelstoke Railway Museum where the last spike of The Canadian Pacific Railway was driven. Then continue on through Rogers Pass and the Shushwap Lakes area to Kamloops B.C. for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4: Thompson & Fraser Valleys
Bid farewell to Kamloops as the train departs and winds through the Thompson Valley and on to Fraser Valley. From the train you will have a hill-top view of the awesome Hell's Gate, a natural gorge of rock walls that forces the mighty Fraser River through a 110-foot-wide passage. The train will arrive into Vancouver where you will be treated to a gala on-board dinner and your last luxurious night on the train.
Day 5: Vancouver
After breakfast on board, your included transfer will take you to the airport, train station or Vancouver hotel of your choice.
Itinerary day-by-day subject to change. This journey designed for those who just want to take in the Rockies — but not do much sightseeing — on the most luxurious train in North America.
