COVID-19 Announcement & Special Terms & Conditions

During the global COVID-19 pandemic, we have worked with our partners around the world to change and rebook journeys on behalf of our valued travelers. Our partners have risen to the challenge of the times. When travel has not been possible due to the pandemic, we have been able to negotiate changes and/or cancellations amenable to our travelers. We expect that we will continue to be able to negotiate agreeable outcomes for our travelers whenever necessary due to the pandemic.

Additionally, several of our partners have issued special terms and conditions that currently supersede their existing terms. Some of these apply to new bookings, and some apply to both new and existing bookings. The following is current as of October 8, 2020, however; these terms may be retracted or changed at any time.

Please also note that due to the high cost of our staff’s labor in modifying, changing, and rebooking journeys, a modest change fee will be charged by The Society of International Railway Travelers, regardless of circumstance, and in addition to any penalty charged by our partners.

Golden Eagle Luxury Trains (includes journeys on the Golden Eagle Trans-Siberian Express; Golden Eagle Danube Express; Deccan Odyssey; and Shangri-La Express)

New Bookings: Book a 2021 or 2022 now and your deposit will be fully refundable until January 31, 2021*, should you decide to cancel. *Following this date, Golden Eagle Luxury Trains’ standard terms and conditions will apply.

New & Existing Bookings: If for any reason your future trip is cancelled by Golden Eagle Luxury Trains, you will be eligible for a full refund.

You will also be allowed to transfer your booking to another date, up to 60 days before departure, if you are unable to travel due to the government restrictions in your country of residence or the countries you are due to visit on your trip with Golden Eagle Luxury Trains.

Belmond Trains & Cruises (includes journeys on Venice Simplon-Orient-Express; Belmond Royal Scotsman; Belmond Grand Hibernian; Eastern & Oriental Express; Belmond British Pullman. Does not include journeys on Belmond Andean Explorer or Belmond Hiram Bingham):

New & Existing Bookings (made prior to December 31, 2020): All guests with reservations made prior to December 31, 2020 for a future journey will be able to reschedule their journey up to 35 days prior to the scheduled date of departure without charge by Belmond.

If, within the period of 35 days prior to the scheduled departure date, any new government travel restrictions or quarantine measures come into force that affect Belmond’s ability to operate, or our guests’ ability to travel (either in the guest’s country of departure or destination), guests will be able to either change their booking without charge, or cancel without charge and receive a full refund of any amounts paid to Belmond.

Guests who choose to change a booking will be able to select a new departure date from the current published schedules for 2021, and any initial deposit already paid will be valid for use against the revised booking. Please note that all bookings will be subject to availability and a price difference may apply.

Rocky Mountaineer: 

Existing Bookings: If you rebook a similar package, in terms of the components and travel date (a 14-day window either side of your original departure date anniversary), to travel with us during our 2021 season we want you to be assured you won’t pay more for that package with our price guarantee.

  • You will not be charged any change fees by Rocky Mountaineer;
  • Your new departure date must be in 2021 and 14 days before or after your original departure date in 2020 (i.e. if your 2020 departure date is June 30, you can book a 2021 departure from June 16 to July 14 in 2021 without additional cost to you);
  • All components of your package remain the same (hotel, transfers, tours, meals, etc,), subject to availability and service class;
  • Where the same hotel/room is not available, we will make the best effort to provide a similar product;
  • If you booked on promotion it will be carried over to your new booking.
