One of the journey highlights is the two-day trip on the fabulous Rocky Mountaineer between Jasper and Vancouver.  Enjoy gourmet meals on board, and spot Canadian wildlife from your seat or from the open-air viewing platform. Knowledgeable and friendly attendants will keep you engaged with stories and facts about the region.

Witness the stunning views along Thompson River and the beauty of Jasper National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit the glacial-fed aquamarine waters of Lake Louise and the majesty of the natural bridge over Kicking Horse River.  Ride the Banff Gondola, tour the Athabasca Glacier (one of the largest accumulations of ice and snow south of the Arctic Circle) on an Ice Explorer, and enjoy time spent at IRT’s — and our clients’ — very favorite accommodations.

Day 1: Calgary to Banff

Upon arrival in Calgary, you will be met by your private driver for a 1.5-2 hour transfer to the iconic Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. Enjoy the afternoon and evening at leisure. You’ll have 3 nights in this quaint mountain town.

Accommodations: Fairmont Gold Mountain View Room, Fairmont Banff Springs

Day 2: Discover Banff and Its Wildlife

Learn about the people, geology and wildlife while exploring the spectacular sights of the renowned mountain town of Banff. This private touring excursion is highlighted with a journey on the Banff Gondola for a 360Âş view of six mountain ranges that surround the town. After a brief stop at Lake Minnewanka, you’ll be returned to your hotel.

Highlights: Bow Falls, Tunnel Mountain Drive, Hoodoo’s, Surprise Corner, Lake Minnewanka Loop, Two Jack viewpoint, Banff Gondola.

Day 3: Banff to Lake Louise

Enjoy breakfast before you meet your private transfer driver to be whisked away to the stunning Lake Louise. Often described as the crown jewel of the Canadian Rocky Mountains, the striking turquoise waters of Lake Louise, Alberta, are perhaps the most photographed in all of Canada.

Enjoy a Traditional English High Tea with champagne while enjoying the scenic views of the lake.

Your evening is at leisure.

Day 4: Lake Louise to Jasper

Breakfast included today. Your private sightseeing tour will encompass the ultimate glacier exploration as you travel along the spectacular Icefields Parkway. From walking on ancient ice at the Glacier Adventure (included), to standing on a glass platform almost one thousand feet in the air at the Glacier Skywalk (included), today’s experiences will leave you with a special appreciation for this treasured region of the Rockies. The Columbia Icefield is one of the largest accumulations of ice south of the Arctic Circle and one of the most accessible icefields in North America. (Gourmet picnic lunch included today.)

Arrive in Jasper early this evening.

Day 5: Jasper nature touring

After your included breakfast, enjoy a private half-day tour of Jasper National Park, a World Heritage Site and the Canadian Rockies’ largest national park. See the area’s many natural attractions, rugged peaks, and wildlife – such as coyotes, deer, elk, big-horned sheep, moose, mountain goats, and wolves. And again, you set the time for departure and the pace — since it is a private tour.

The remainder of the day is free for you to explore Jasper on your own — or relax in your lovely suite.

Day 6: Jasper to Kamloops

This morning, you will be privately transferred to the Rocky Mountaineer station to board the train. Enjoy a full day on board the Rocky Mountaineer en route to Kamloops, with a gourmet breakfast and lunch served in the beautiful dining level. Today’s highlights include Mt. Robson (at 12,972 feet, highest peak in Canadian Rockies), Pyramid Falls, Yellowhead Pass, and the journey along the North Thompson River into Kamloops.

Arrive late evening and be transferred to your hotel.

Accommodations: Kamloops hotel. (Please note that all accommodation in Kamloops is considered moderate.)

Day 7: Kamloops to Vancouver

Board the Rocky Mountaineer for another exciting full day on board. Continue west towards the Pacific Ocean and the coastal city of Vancouver. Pass through Rainbow Canyon, named for its cliffs striped with pinks, greens and greys creating a stunning rainbow effect. View the rushing waters of Hell’s Gate and traverse the fertile farming region of the Fraser Valley.

When you arrive in Vancouver late this evening, you will be met by your private driver and transferred to a modern icon of Vancouver, the Fairmont Pacific Rim. Consider dining in the hotel’s Michelin-recommended onsite dining.

Day 8: Vancouver

After your included breakfast this morning, your tour ends with a private transfer to the airport for your flight home.
