The Tour
Relax in supreme comfort aboard the Deccan Odyssey while visiting some of India’s most iconic landmarks, from Delhi’s India Gate to Udaipur, the “City of Lakes,” to the serenely beautiful Taj Mahal in Agra. The breadth of India’s culture, history and ineffable spirit come alive as you take in Jaipur’s “Pink City” and its “Palace of Winds,” Ranthambore’s Tiger Reserve and the ancient, Ajanta Caves’ rock-cut monuments. It's an ideal way to experience a large swath of India in a relatively short time.
The Itinerary
Day 1: Depart Delhi
Board the train late afternoon. Dinner is served on board and the train departs for Agra.
Day 2: Agra
After breakfast on board, visit the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort. Lunch is at city hotel. Continue to 16th-century Fatehpur Sikri—Great Mughal Emperor Akbar’s untouched, red sandstone capital city. Then board the train at Bharatpur Railway Station. The train leaves for Jaipur while you are served dinner on board.
Day 3: Jaipur
Arrive at the "Pink City" of Jaipur. Viisit Maharaja Mansingh’s 17th-century masterpiece, Amber Fort. Lunch will be at the city hotel. In the afternoon enjoy sightseeing of Jaipur. Dinner will be served on board as the train proceeds towards Sawaimadhopur.
Day 4: Sawaimadhopur
After an early breakfast, there will be a jungle safari. Return to the train for lunch on board. High tea at Taj Lodge will be served after an afternoon jungle safari. Dinner is served on board as the train leaves for Udaipur.
Day 5: Udaipur
Morning sightseeing tour of Udaipur city followed by a boat ride on Lake Pichola (subject to water levels). Return to train for lunch on board. In the evening deboard the train for a Gala dinner at Palace hotel. The Train travels to Aurangabad in the night.
Day 6: Aurangabad
Morning sightseeing of the Ellora caves. Return to the train for lunch and rest of the day at leisure on board the train. The train departs for Jalgaon in the night. Dinner on board.
Day 7: Aurangabad
After breakfast, visit Ajanta Caves, rock-cut cave monuments with masterfully carved sculptures and paintings of Buddhist religious art. Return to the train for lunch on board. The rest of the day free on board the train as it leaves for Mumbai. Dinner is served on board.
Day 8: Arrive Mumbai
After breakfast, check-out and deboard the train at the railway station in Mumbai
