Angela Walker

I began working in the travel industry during college, as an intern at The Society of International Railway Travelers. In 2018, I celebrated my 20th anniversary with IRT.

I now serve as Senior Luxury Travel Advisor and Vice President, Operations.

As soon as I took my first international trip, I was hooked. Now, not only do I still love traveling myself, I also love preparing itineraries and experiences for my clients, and hearing all the details on their return.

I specialize in out-of-the-way rail journeys, such as those on the Golden Eagle in Central Asia and Shangri-La Express in China & Tibet. Including those two trains, I have been fortunate enough to travel on an astounding 15 of the World’s Top 25 Trains.  Some of my other favorites: the Golden Eagle Danube Express, Deccan Odyssey, Rovos Rail, Belmond Royal Scotsman, Eastern & Oriental Express, Belmond Hiram Bingham, Al Andalus, El Transcantabrico Gran Lujo, the Canadian and Rocky Mountaineer.

My recommendations are always thoughtful and based on my deep knowledge based on personal experience.

In addition to my official roles, I am also IRT’s unofficial Visa-Wrangler-in-Chief — and the dotter of our i’s and the crosser of our t’s. (Even if you have not personally worked with me, there is a very high chance that I have been involved in the background, helping to make your program perfect!)

Outside of work, I have an abiding love for penguins, my sweet beagle-mix Lucy, and of course my husband Shawn.

Favorite places to travel (so far): South Africa, Switzerland, Spain, India, Croatia, French Polynesia and Canada.

Next on my travel “wish list”: Australia and Antarctica (penguins!)
